Mine transformers are a special type of transformer, specifically designed for mines with explosion hazards such as methane mixed gas and coal dust. These transformers can convert 6KV and 10KV power to the low-voltage power needed in underground coal mines.
It is mainly divided into two categories: General-purpose transformers for mines and explosion-proof transformers for mines.
Mine General-Purpose
Transformers are suitable for environments in mines where there is coal dust and biogas but no explosion hazard, and are used for power drive and lighting. These transformers are oil-immersed and have the same internal structure and working principle as ordinary oil-immersed power transformers, but their enclosures and incoming/outgoing line devices are different. The general-purpose transformer for mining has a sturdy structure and a low profile. There is a proper space on the oil surface of the oil tank to prevent excessive pressure in the tank when the vent hole on the lid is blocked. The oil tank can withstand a pressure of 0.1 megapascals without deforming. The high and low voltage incoming and outgoing lines of the transformer are in cable junction boxes filled with insulating glue. The general-purpose transformer for mining has capacities of 50, 100, 180, 320 kVA, etc. The primary side is equipped with a no-excitation voltage regulation range of ±5%, and the secondary side coil leads out six terminals for Y/△ connection to obtain 690/400 volts or 1200/690 volts.
Mine flameproof transformers are suitable for mines where there is an explosion hazard. This type of transformer is usually made into a dry type, with all the joints of the box shell made to meet the flameproof requirements, capable of withstanding an internal pressure of 0.8 megapascals. The capacity of mine dry-type transformers is generally 4 kVA and 2.5 kVA, and they are mainly used to supply power to equipment such as electric drills, lighting and signaling. Its incoming and outgoing lines are led out through the outgoing line sleeve. The primary side voltage is either 380 volts or 660 volts, and the secondary side voltage is usually 133 volts. Flameproof transformers with a capacity of over 100 kVA are often combined with flameproof switch boxes to form flameproof mobile substations with output voltages of 400 V, 690 V and 1200 V to meet the needs of mine electrical equipment. To accommodate tunnel transportation, the transformer structure is required to be lower, and the diameter of the iron column can be larger, usually using cold-rolled silicon steel sheets. Transformers with a capacity of 100 kVA and above are typically H-class insulated.

- High mechanical strength: The core is made of high-quality low-loss silicon steel sheets, with low no-load loss, small no-load current and low noise.
- Good heat dissipation: The enclosure of the mine transformer is fully corrugated, with both side cover and top cover structures.

The advantages of mine flameproof transformers mainly include the following points:
